• One 48” x 52” piece of batting
• 2” square of black fabric or two buttons (one large and one small) for eyes

Assembly of Quilt Blocks:

Following the manufacturer’s guidelines, trace the specified number of each template onto the paper side of the fuse web. Cut out each template roughly, leaving about 1/8″ margin outside the drawn lines.

Apply each template to the wrong side of the fabrics as indicated on the templates. Cut out each template along the drawn lines.

Refer to the quilt photo for arrangement, then press two birds, two wings, two beaks, two eyes, three leaves, and one branch onto the 14 ½” Fabric A square.

Use a decorative stitch like a buttonhole or satin stitch to finish the raw edges of each shape, creating the central block.
Attach one 1 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of the central block. Sew one 1 ½” Fabric C square to each end of one 1 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric B strip. Repeat to create a second strip. Attach the strips to the top and bottom of the central block (Figure. 1).

Attach one 2 ½” x 16 ½” Fabric A strip to each side of the central block. Add one 2 ½” x 20 ½” Fabric A strip to the top and bottom of the central block.

Join ten 2 ½” x 4 ½” assorted strips together lengthwise to form a strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Attach one strip to each side of the central block.

Combine two 4 ½” x 6 ½” Fabric D strips with ten 2 ½” x 6 ½” assorted strips lengthwise to create a strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Attach these strips to the top and bottom of the central block to complete the quilt top (Figure. 2).

Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Layout while assembling):
9. Attach one 2 ½” x 32 ½” Fabric K strip to each side of the quilt top. Add one 2 ½” Fabric E square to each end of one 2 ½” x 28 ½” Fabric K strip. Repeat to create a second strip. Attach these strips to the top and bottom of the quilt top.

Attach one 4 ½” x 36 ½” Fabric L strip to each side of the quilt top. Add one 4 ½” x 40 ½” Fabric L strip to the top and bottom of the quilt top.
Layer and quilt the assembled quilt top as desired.

Join the five 2 ½” x 42” Fabric K strips together end-to-end with 45-degree seams to create the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.
Bind the quilt as desired.
